At The Common Man Inn & Spa and our in-house restaurant Foster's Boiler Room, we are very conscious about preserving our natural resources and harnessing the power of nature to help power our Inn.
In 2008, 750 square feet of solar panels were installed on the roof of the Inn and are used to power the hot water heater responsible for all water use in the inn - including guest rooms, Foster's Boiler Room kitchen and The Spa at the Inn.
Other green initiatives at the Inn, Spa, Foster's Boiler Room and the Common Man Family include:
- Using an environmentally-friendly laundering process and giving guests the option of re-using towels and cutting down on the number of linen changes, reducing water and detergent use.
- Recycling program encouraging our guests and staff to recycle all plastic, aluminum and glass.
- Water-saving shower heads in every room and our Spa at the Inn.
- Fluorescent, energy-saving light bulbs throughout the Inn & Spa.
- For more than 10 years, we've supported local farmers by purchasing and serving their produce whenever available.
- Using recycled paper for our pizza boxes, napkins, and menus and using an environmentally-friendly printing process.
- Our Common Man family bio-diesel delivery van, which delivers products to all of our locations, runs on our own recycled fry oil.
- We use bio-diesel to supplement heating oil at our Common Man restaurant and our Common Man Company store, both in Ashland.
- Our Common Man family maintenance shop is heated by 100% bio-diesel.
